2021 Evesham Wood
Chardonnay Le Puits Sec
$40.00
This quarter-acre plot of our 1991 planting of Dijon clones 76 & 96 is all that remains of Russ’s 2.5 acre experiment with chardonnay. While Oregon’s reputation for chardonnay has come along, those early years were a harder time to convince folks of Oregon’s capability with the variety and he grafted much of the planting over to Pinot Noir in the late ’90s. These vines are on American rootstock at the top of our east-facing Le Puits Sec on a mix of volcanic Nekia and Jory. Barrel fermented and aged in one neutral barrel and a younger half-barrel.
